Ex-emergent pastor, Mark Driscoll, known for his profanity and lewd remarks, has weighed in on the real problem that lead to Ted Haggard's downfall, in his opinion. It was Mrs. Haggard's fault.

Driscoll: It is not uncommon to meet pastors' wives who really let themselves go. They sometimes feel that because their husband is a pastor, he is therefore trapped into fidelity, which gives them cause for laziness. A wife who lets herself go and is not sexually available to her husband in the ways that the Song of Songs is so frank about is not responsible for her husband's sin, but she may not be helping him either.

You'd expect someone that teaches to do their research better. Have you read Driscoll's original article or followup? In neither was that the point and no where did he blame Ted's wife.

This is what offends me personally in what Driscoll said is what he did to Mrs. Haggard personally and in public.
She has been humiliated along with her husband. Then Driscoll pulicly accuses her of being too frumpy to take care of her husbands needs humiliating her even more. And what about the kids. I am sure a public accusation like that will eventually get at least to Mrs. Haggard. That is unloving and unnecessary.
First, the bedroom activities of a married couple are no business of Driscoll's. Second, why speculate about it when he has no idea about their bedroom activities. Third, if Mrs. Haggard was not meeting Mr. Haggard's needs, that is no excuse for Ted. Fourth, I am disgusted to even talk about this.
Lastly, your point that Driscoll did not blame Mrs. Haggard is wrong. He BEGINS by blaming her, then gives the little disclaimer at the end where he says he doesn't. That was both transparent and dishonest on his part.
This is all I will say on this subject because it borders on filth. At the very least it is speculation into very personal and private affairs that is not our business. I will let you have the last word as long as it is kept clean.
