The Burning Hatred of God

Only the upright will see God.

Oh, my religious friends, do not think we are saved for pleasure. We are saved for holiness. Only the upright will see God. If you go to church, if you pray, if you sing in the choir, if you lift your hands, if you preach, if you're religious, you will not see God.

If you give, you will not see God. If you go as a missionary to the darkest corner of the earth, you will not see God. If your theology is good and proper you will not see God. If your family is godly and saved, you will not see God.

God hates you and He will destroy you. Prepared for you are the flames of hell for eternity. There will be no relief. Your thirst will not be quenched. Your pastor will not save you. Your parents will not save you. Your good works will not save you. You will desperately want out of hell each and every moment, but the rest of God's creation will have nothing to do with you because you are nothing but a disgusting, sinful, oozing, vile creature unfit for life.

Unless you're upright.

Listen to what the Spirit of God says:
"The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD'S throne is in heaven;
His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.
The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked,
And the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Upon the wicked He will rain snares;
Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.
For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness;
The upright will behold His face."
Psalm 11:4-7

Examine yourselves. Make your calling and election sure.

Amen Phil..amen a thousand times over. Thanks, I was beginning to think I was the only one who preached that way. I've been told I'm too hard and should be more loving. Thanks for the encouragement.

Eddie,
Read some of the old guys. We can't get them to Mount Calvary until they get to Mount Sinai. Always preach the Law first, unless you are preaching to someone that is all bound up in getting to heaven by keeping the Law. These days we live in a church who has denied the Law. Therefore, the world around us has no idea God is sending them to hell.

Don't you agree it's the most loving thing to do to warn them?

Ask your nay-sayers why they don't love their neighbors enough to warn them of the coming wrath. And you might remind them biblical love doesn't wear a skirt. Read I John 5:2-3. There we are given an objective test to see if we love the brethren. "By this thing we know if we are loving the children of God, if God we are loving and His commandments we are perfoming. For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not harsh."

So then, love is measured by obedience, not smarminess. Smarminess has its place and so does sternness. To withold a needed warning or reproof is not loving. It is selfish. We don't want to have someone get mad at us. On the other hand, gentleness (even smarminess) is needed at other times. Love uses both as needed. Jesus did.

Just curious...why would you say that God hates us?

Joel,
Thanks for asking. I will answer your question three ways.

First, I did it to shock. We seldom hear this sort of talk.

Second, I did it because it is true. Unless you are one of the upright God hates you and He will destroy you. For instance, God tells in John 3:16 that He loves us and has given us a plan for salvation from His wrath. However, much of the Scripture is taken up with statements like this one:
For the LORD of hosts will have a day of reckoning
Against everyone who is proud and lofty
And against everyone who is lifted up,
That he may be abased.

Or this one:
For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
There is no one who calls on Your name,
Who arouses himself to take hold of You;
For You have hidden Your face from us
And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.

Third, I included an exception for the upright as did the Psalmist in the passage quoted. The upright are not hated by God. They will see His face.

So, the question is "How does one become upright?" And that is found in passages like John 3:1-21.
You can read that here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203;&version=49;

I hope that helps. Don't fail to write me if you want some more answers.
